In case you guys were wondering, what they are doing was called "Yobai" or "Night Crawling" an ancient Japanese custom in the rural countryside since Heian or earlier period. Surprisingly, it was done until like early 20th century. One interesting thing, the boy would usually take a leak on the sliding door to cover the creaking noise. Only videogame that have Yobai as a mini game was "Way of the Samurai 4"
